In March 2015, The Violet Hamilton Project was established under the supervision of Nick Shiraev and Trish Oakley. Curator and Project Coordinator, Ivana Jovanovic was employed to scan, catalogue and document the Violet Hamilton Collection.
The collection consists of:
- More than 20,000 black and white 35mm negatives, with images spanning Violet’s career and life as a photographer from 1971 to 1989.
- Around 400 colour positive slides of rock and roll bands and performances
- A number of medium format colour and black and white negatives
The Collection makes public the work of this extraordinary photographer and her important contribution to the documentation of cultural life in Australia in the 1970s.
